As a Property Underwriter, you assess risk and make informed decisions about which properties Zurich insures and on what terms. You work closely with brokers to understand their clients’ needs, balance commercial outcomes with sound judgement, and help build a profitable and sustainable insurance portfolio.

 

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their insurance or commercial career who is curious about underwriting and ready to build a long-term pathway in the industry. The role sits within our General Insurance business and supports the growth of our South Australian and Northern Territory property portfolio.

 

You’ll work closely with experienced underwriters, sales teams and broker partners, learning how to assess risk, support underwriting decisions and build trusted relationships. With the right behaviours, curiosity and support, this role offers a clear pathway to grow into a Property Underwriter, learning the craft through hands-on experience, mentoring and structured development.

 

You will also be responsible for the following:

 

  • Supporting the underwriting of new and existing property business in line with Zurich’s appetite and guidelines
  • Building strong relationships with brokers through proactive, professional service
  • Preparing, reviewing and managing underwriting information to support decision making
  • Working closely with senior underwriters to learn risk assessment and portfolio management
  • Contributing to the ongoing growth and sustainability of the SA and NT property portfolio
  • Using systems, data and digital tools to deliver timely and accurate outcomes

You’re someone who is curious, commercially minded and enjoys working in partnership with others. You bring a thoughtful, disciplined approach to decision-making and value building relationships that last.

 

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

 

  • Experience in insurance, banking, financial services or a customer-focused commercial environment
  • Background in broker support, sales support, customer service or account management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to analyse information and follow processes with care and judgement
  • Confidence using systems and digital tools in a fast-paced environment
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in underwriting
